WEST DOVER — Funeral services will be conducted Thursday [July 29, 1976] at 2 p.m. at West Dover Congregational Church for Mrs. Flora (Bartlett) (Shippee) Fairbanks, 89, widow of Lester A. Fairbanks, who died Sunday afternoon [July 25, 1976] at Linden Lodge in Brattleboro. She had been a patient at the nursing home for two and a half years.
The Rev. John P. R. Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Wilmington.
Friends may call at the Covey & Allen Funeral Home in Wilmington Wednesday evening from 7 to 9.
Mrs. Fairbanks was born in West Dover Aug. 17, 1886, daughter of Edwin J. and Caroline (Chase) Bartlett.
On June 21, 1905, she was married to Leon B. Shippee. He died Feb. 20, 1920.
In March, 1935 she was married to Mr. Fairbanks of Colrain, Mass. He died Nov. 5, 1966.
She was a member of the West Dover Ladies Aid and Twilight Rebekah Lodge of Jacksonville.
Surviving are two sons, William E. Shippee of West Dover and Leon B. Shippee of Rowe, Mass.; six daughters, Mrs. Eliza Pratt of Adams, Mass., Mrs. Hazel O'Brien of Searsburg, Mrs. Gladys Shippee of Vernon, Mrs. Cora Bardwell of Bernardston, Mass., Mrs. Myrtle Ray of Wilmington and Mrs. Ethel Heyland of North Babylon, L. I., N. Y.; a sister, Mrs. Alice Robinson of Wilmington; 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, nieces and nephews.
A daughter Mrs. Rebecca Taylor and a son Wilson L. Shippee predeceased Mrs. Fairbanks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deerfield Valley Rescue Inc. through the office of the funeral home, or a charity of one's choice.
