Virginia F. Shippee

Virginia F. Shippee, 71, of Poplar Avenue, North Kingstown, died April 17, 1992, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of Elmer R. Shippee.

Born in Providence on April 29, 1920, a daughter of the late George A. and Louella (Cullison) Cook, she lived in North Kingstown since 1965.

She was a graduate of Bouve Boston College, a member of the North Kingstown Woman's Club and a former member of the Pawtucket Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Wickford.

Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Joan E. Hatcher of Williamsport, Penn., and Barbara Ann Strassman of Sharon, Mass.; three sons, the Rev. Richard C. Shippee of Providence, Russell R. Shippee of North Kingstown and Stephen W. Shippee of Ossining, N.Y.; and 12 grandchildren.

The funeral was held Monday [Apr. 20, 1992] at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by The Cranstons of Wickford.

In lieu of flowers, donati[o]ns may be made to the R.I. Children's Hospital, Providence, or Family Life Institute, 435 West Fourth St., Williamsport, Pa.
