Mildred Poage

KENDALLVILLE — Mildred Arlene Poage, 88, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.

She was a housewife.

She was born in LaGrange County on July 23, 1914, to Walter and Cordia (Horner) Barnes.

She first married Frank L. Shippy and he died in 1956. She later married Coe William Poage and he died in 1981.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Connie Shippy of Flushing, N.Y., and Lonny and Cleta Shippy of Elyria, Ohio; three grandsons, Steve and Ed Shippy, both of Texas and Rick Shippy of Michigan; four granddaughters, Linda Brown of Texas, Julie McGill and Amy Shippy, both of Ohio, and Roxanne Nicholas of Michigan; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday [Nov. 16, 2002] at 1:30 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roger Olson, chaplain of Shepherd of the Hill nursing home, officiating. Burial will be at Plato Cemetery.

Calling is today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home.
