Funeral services for Mrs. Ralph Shippy, 82, who died at the Canby Hospital on January 2, 1980, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 5 [1980] at the First United Presbyterian Church. Pastor Myron Brower officiated.
Norma DeWit was organist. Robert Hanson sang "I'm But a Stranger Here". The hymn "In The Cross of Christ I Glory" was sung by the congregation.
Pallbearers were Donald Shippy, Dale Shippy, Dennis Shippy, Roger Shippy, James Ormseth and Richard Ormseth. Honorary pallbearers were Martin Knutson, Edwin Molberg, Julius Kraft and Frank Braucher. Interment was in the Canby Cemetery.
Augusta E. Shippy was born November 6, 1897 in Hanover, Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kraft. She moved to Minnesota with her family in 1905 to a farm near the Marble Lutheran Church.
On June 28, 1916, she was married to Ralph Shippy. After their marriage they farmed in Lincoln County until moving to Canby in 1949.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the U.P.W. and the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Wayne, Canby; daughter, Arlys, Mrs. Russell Ormseth, Canby; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Martin (Myrtle) Knutson, Cumberland, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one son, one sister and four brothers.
